What to do after a fire has passed
Once it is safe to go outside, check for spot fires or embers both inside and outside of your home.
Queensland government’s website suggests checking in roof spaces, under the house and in garden beds or mulch. As always you should stay indoors and listen to your local radio until the deem it safe to go outside. Once it is safe and your ready to clean up make sure that you wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and take care when handling material which may contain asbestos.
Don’t spread ash around the property as this may contain copper, chromium, arsenate (CCA) treated timbers, asbestos or other hazards.
Try to keep children and pets away from ash until clean-up work complete.
